I went with a combination of refraction, controlled light and controlled object to similate an atom in transition.
Olive oil on top of water in a clear 8" bowl, suspended 3 ft from the floor
On a dark floor was a roll of tape in red housing....midship was a blue scissor handle that I twisted for the oval shape
I used a pocket screwdriver to maneuver the oil balls for my composition
Camera was tripod mounted on a focus rail, nose down, the shutter triggered with a handheld remote release
Lighting was one Nikon (CLS) SB800 @ 1/4 power camera right, bounced off foamcore and another foamcore opposite for fill..... all underneath the suspended bowl
